Foray into the processes of modular synthesis, late 2017 - early 2018.

A spiritual experience of the sea and the mysterious continent where the world ends.

“One of the first Serge Modular synthesizer created became the machine used on the first Greenpeace anti-whaling expedition (1975) by William (Will) Jackson, to approximate whale sounds and broadcast them to whales in the open Pacific. (A photo of this can be found in the Vancouver Sun newspaper archives May 1975.)” (Source: Wikipedia)

It seems fitting that more than 40 years later, the modular synthesizer (this time in its latest and most popular iteration, the Eurorack format) is the instrument of choice for Puscha to create minimalist compositions heavily influenced by his recently completed 3-month long mission and journey into the Southern Ocean, Antarctica. He was a part of an anti-whaling operation with Sea Shepherd against the Japanese government’s whaling fleet. There is a sense of haunting morose that permeates this music, an emotional response to experiences of that part of the world, and for such a cause. This is a lament for whales slaughtered by poachers in the same ocean, creatures of which he encountered personally many times. The icy tone of this album suggests an existential reaction to the sparseness and remoteness of Antarctica, which colours and shapes his Rileyesque cinematic compositions documented on this release.

Transfigure, transpire, I desire to retire.
I transmutate, this transmission becomes a transaction.

I disintegrate, overbearing the wait to understand my fate, these thoughts that I hunger, I endlessly wish to sate.

Transcribe this transmission as I take my mission, a transaction that is more reaction than a supposed refraction, the sea's depth an ocean of change.

Tranquil transition I transport my position, the weight of a person carried is afraid to be made, the fear of facing oneself in face of indifference.

Unquestioningly the ocean has no ego, no concepts, no humanity that is central to itself.

We cannot comprehend this incomprehension, incomprehensible without compromise a demise of which was over before it began.

Transport in transit I transition.
